一体化智慧截流井具有集成度高，占地面积小的优势。由于截流井内部设有水泵及闸门等机械设备，需要配套拦污格栅来防止垃圾进入。但是一体化截流井内部空间有限，无法使用大型机械格栅，使用提篮格栅又容易堵塞通道，导致下雨时排水不畅。使用固定格栅虽然可以最大限度的保障雨水通过的速度，但是由于井内空间小，清掏不便。现需要研究改进截流井的格栅，兼顾其方便清掏以及雨水畅通。实现智慧截流 “清污分流”，既要控制污水向地表水环境和市政雨水管道排，同时也要控制河湖等地表水进入污水系统。
