Millimeter wave electromagnetic wavesElectromagnetic waves in the frequency domain of 30-300 GHz (1-10mm wavelength) are usually referred to as millimeter waves, it is located in the wavelength range where microwaves and far-infrared waves overlap, Therefore, it has the characteristics of two kinds of spectrum. The 76-81GHz band is the least understood and exploited area. 

Working principle

NYRD900 FMCW radar products (also known as millimeter wave radar), due to the higher frequency of millimeter wave than Ku-band radar, it has important applications in long-distance target detection, strong smoke and dust environment, long-distance imaging, multi-spectral imaging, etc., and can detect targets smaller than microwave radar and achieve more accurate positioning, with higher resolution and stronger confidentiality.

Design features

    ◎Very good transient performance: Based on the self-developed CMOS millimeter-wave RF chip, it realizes a more compact RF architecture and a higher signal-to-noise ratio.

    ◎The 5GHz operating bandwidth enables the product to have higher measurement resolution and measurement accuracy.

    ◎Coherence: Coherence is produced by coherent current-driven dipole oscillations, or by nonlinear difference-frequency effects of coherent laser pulses.

    ◎Low energy: The energy of millimeter wave photons is only a few millielectron volts, and there is no phenomenon of X-ray ionization and destruction of the substance to be detected, so it is not easy to destroy the substance to be detected.

    ◎Strong penetrability: It has strong penetrating power for non-polar substances. Many non-metallic non-polar materials absorb less radiation in this band. Therefore, they can be used to detect the internal structure of materials. For example, ceramics, cardboard, plastic products, foam, etc. , are transparent to electromagnetic radiation in this band, and can also be used for security detection in airports and stations, such as detection of machinery, explosives and drugs, or for circuit board welding detection.

    ◎Easily absorbed by polar molecules: This band has less scattering in non-uniform materials, and can detect and measure water vapor content. It is also possible to study the composition of substances or perform quality control by analyzing their characteristic spectra.

    ◎Large range and small blind area. The maximum range can reach 120 meters, and the blind area can reach 8 cm. 

    ◎Small beam angle, infinitely small size, easy to install. Affected by the size of the tank connection, the interference of obstacles is small.

    ◎Shorter wavelengths and better reflection characteristics on solid surfaces, eliminating the need for special universal flanges for aiming.

    ◎Support remote debugging and remote upgrade, convenient for on-site personnel maintenance work. 

As the 80GHz band radar used in industrial measurement field, high-precision, non-contact object level and liquid level measurement, with other common microwave pulse radar, guided wave radar incomparable advantages, very narrow beam and penetration ability, can better adapt to ultra-complex working conditions, without weakening the measurement performance.
